A 13-year-old built a six-wheeled go-kart and I’m insanely jealous

In this video published by Genius Garage founder Casey Putsch, Gene Lin tries out his six-wheeled Tyrrell Kart!

Do you remember what you were doing when you were 13?

When I was 13, I was playing racing games and binge-eating Hot Pockets with various car magazines strewn about my room. This kid, on the other hand, built a six-wheeled go-kart; just like the Tyrrell T34 Formula 1 car from the ’70s!

Gene Lin (a.k.a. “The Hamster)is a 13-year-old student of the Genius Garage; a non-profit organization located in Bowling Green, Ohio, that helps train students for careers in the automotive or aerospace sectors. While at Genius Garage Lin discovered he had a real knack for drawing and designing cars, so naturally, founder Casey Putsch took him under his wing and pushed him into transportation design. Then, he invited Lin into his garage to try his hand at fabrication. This was where the six-wheeled go-kart was born.

The thing looks like an absolute beast! Even though the engine is a little on the wimpy side, the go-kart certainly looks fast thanks to its large wings, gold wheels, and vintage-style racing livery.

Now, all “The Hamster” has to do is fit a beefier engine!
